Or the Famicom / PC Engine Crew. However you want to name it, it's a collection of classic video game characters from the 8bit / 16bit era. Sat on this for about a week and tweaked a few shapes or colors here and there. Which goes to show that having more business or characters in a drawing means more things to have to keep track of. Which is a pain, even though I like these mash up style images, like the "Best Of" collection games that get released every once in awhile.
Having said that, hopefully I'm not using things like tons of visual business, detail, or color to hide bad drawing chops. Some folks rely heavily on super stylized brushes or minimal color to carry their drawing or style, but if it's the "right" style or choices alot of things can be overlooked technically. Either way, folks online tend to respond less to solid but no frills drawings, even when it's story related, than they do huge color or style explosions, sometimes especially when it's super minimal.

Animation Hellhole Memories Part 3
Several pieces that are still in the rough stages, revolving around my scattered memories of the cheap Chinese place we used to hit after animation class over at Allan Hancock, way back during the pre-CalArts days. It's long since gone, but like the old animation classroom or the courtyard next to it there's a bit of nostalgia and comfort for those places which colors my memories. Hence the inclusion of 8 or 16 bit characters and time traveling supermodels in these pics.
No photos that I know of exist for any of these places other than the few I have or of what there is online showing what they've become the meanwhile. Which in some ways makes them more special, not least of which is that it forces me to create the rest of what I can't remember.
In any event, sketch pages showing my thought process. In Pinterest form.

Obligatory Retro Game Post - What I've Been Playing
Posted this already over on the Instagram and (don't laugh) the Deviantart page.
Anyhow, a visual representation of GBA games I've been playing recently. Was a little too late in getting this done to enter into this year's Forget Me Not: Art Against Alzheimer's charity art auction, but next year will prove to be a challenge since stuff apparently flew off the shelves and raised over $5k. Not bad for something homegrown by Allan Hancock Animation Hellhole alumni on the Central Coast.
