~ Quick Sketches... ~

Some Medieval Mujahideen and Crusaders... on Post-It notes - not anywhere near accurate in historic details, but whatever.

Inspired from looking through some of Gustave Dore's Crusader illustrations this past week. (Some of his stuff is available for download here - scroll down to the bottom of the page to find links. )

Sweet sketch, man! You definitely captured something realistic but original in the face.

Cool, thanks man. The Dore stuff's been great to look through - nice mix between the old timey woodcut look and really atmospheric lighting (kind of reminds me of Rembrandt sketches). Thanks much for suggesting the Gustave, good sir.

Glad to have shared in the Dore goodness with some folks. He has a really good sense of setting the mood with lighting, as well as having the characters' silhouette read clearly against a detailed background.

Khyle,

Good to hear from you, great stuff as always. Went to A. Vilar's site, great color comps, cool illustrations. Quite a refreshing feeling to network with you guys, always a pleasure.
