~ Gulag Archipelago book covers... ~

The Gulag Archipelago, volumes 1 and 3. Did these last year after finding a couple of old used paperback versions of the above. Since the covers were coming undone, figured it'd be worthwhile to take a crack at some layout and make my own dust jackets.

Some more dime-store layout:
The Brothers Karamzov. Probably would do the "Dostoyevsky" font differently now. More than halfway through reading at this point.

Used the mysterious Flammarion woodcut and some Photoshop to make the cover of Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologica. The fonts were straight from the book binding. Could've finessed them a bit more.

On the shelf. The Chaos Space Marines tend to hang out next to the books (left and right).

~ Rabotniki... ~

Quick something from the sketchbook. Loosely based on a few seconds of film from a WWII era Soviet documentary I saw this last week. And why not, since we've been heading down that direction for quite awhile now...

Micron pens of varying sizes, Prismacolor pencils.

~ Birthday card ... ~

A little something from a few weeks ago, given to a special someone. Hope she doesn't mind me posting it here and showing her off - supermodels tend to be shy creatures.

Inspired from one of her previous comics here. (The model owl on her table ended up becoming this after she got her talented hands on it. Full work-up and progress can be viewed here. )

Micron pens, Prismacolor pencils and markers. Did a little bit of level readjusting in PS, since the scan wasn't quite catching the original colors.
